Giving DD's is Tough - Part IOne of the most visible duties and privileges of being a Gallery Moderator is the responsibility to feature Daily Deviations in representation of the gallery. While we as a community sometimes seem to put a bit too much weight and drama on the selection of the DD's, they are still for many deviants a highlight of the dA day, and a prestigious feature when one is received.
While many deviants wish they had the privilege of giving DD's, I know that since I have become a Gallery Moderator, I've become aware of just how challenging it can be to consistently feature "good" Daily Deviations. I also have a much different view of DD suggestions, why some are featured and why some aren't, than I ever did when I was a regular subscriber suggesting DD's to various GM's. The challenge is an enjoyable one, but there are definitely more considerations involved than many people might realize.

While this may seem to be a very clear and easy to understand directive it is complicated almost daily by the simple fact that artists copy one another.
It is inescapable that when you gather millions of artists together into a central location which is filled to the brim with their individual ideas and creativity several things are going to happen; separate artists will submit similar things without ever having heard of the other, artists will inspire other artists who will then make similar looking works, and some artists will blatantly copy other artists.

Recently, I announced changes to Daily Deviations in this journal and I'm happy to say that the response has been favorable. To review, we have made the following changes:
a> The "3-month rule" is now the "6-month rule" meaning an artist cannot receive another DD if they have had one in the last 6 months.
b> Daily Deviation selectors are limited to a maximum of one selection per day. This has been put in place to focus on quality vs quantity.
The hard-coding of these new guidelines is now in place (special thanks to $ZombieCoder for that

I've made it a practice over the years to sit back and reflect on the year, what went well, what didn't and where I'd like to see the new year go. "Fleshy Features - a substantial serving of Artistic Nude Daily Deviation suggestions!"

A Community Choice feature for deviations I have received as DD suggestions that have not been featured as a DD.

Deviations featured in this article series do not in any way become ineligible to receive a DD at a later date, and do not need to be suggested again. I keep all DD suggestion notes, and go back through them often.

These suggested deviations are featured in no particular order. They also may include deviations that do not meet the criteria of the Artistic Nude gallery, but were thought to be worthy of suggestion, so I am including them with this feature.

This edition of Fleshy Features showcases pregnancy and maternity.

Common reasons for not featuring a suggested deviation as a DD:

(This is not meant to be a complete list, but just some of the most common recurring reasons why a suggested deviation has not been featured.)

**Deviant already has a DD within the past 90 days.
**Deviant already has a large number of DD's.
**Deviation does not meet the criteria of the Photography -> People & Portraits -> Artistic Nude gallery.

WHAT to Suggest:
** Deviations of excellent technical, emotive, and conceptual quality meeting the criteria of the Photography -> People & Portraits -> Artistic Nude gallery.
** Deviations by artists who have not received a DD in the last 90 days.
** Deviations by artists I myself have not already featured for a DD.

HOW to Suggest:
**Send me a note with "DD Suggestion" as the subject line.
** Include the thumbnail of the deviation.
** Include a few words about why you are suggesting this deviation.

WHO to Suggest to:
** Me, OR my co-Gallery Moderator for Artistic Nudes, ^Nyx-Valentine.
** Please send your suggestion to only one Gallery Moderator.
** I will not respond to every suggestion note, although I keep every suggestion note that I receive.

These are all images sent to me as Daily Deviation suggestions, rather than a general feature on maternity photography. So your images not being included does not have anything to do with the quality of your work, but simply means that someone has not happened to send me a DD suggestion for one of your photos.
